Wedding Cake Revised

After experimenting with a numerous variety of paint effect brushes I think I may have created the final wedding cake model. Although at the moment its not covered from tip to toe in decoration, it will be one I've textured the four tiers! Below are some of my experimentations - including cheerios and burger paint effects - I have no clue why I thought to use them, there's a slight chance I may have got carried away! In the end I chose to go with the 'grape stalk' effect - as I felt it went best with the shape of the cake and looked as if it was decaying/drying out.

  1. Hey Frizzia - you know, it just feels to me (and I think this is a harder fix because it's about modelling as opposed to additions) that you need some detailing on the surface of the cake itself - as in piping and 'arcs' and lines and swags...

  2. oh - also, I'm wondering if you could put your wedding cake on somekind of stand, because right now there's something slightly odd and unrealistic about how it just sits ontop of the table-cloth like that - I know some wedding cakes sit on concealed boards, but I just think floating it a bit on some Victorian bit of silverware might give it a bit more elegance and staging? What do you think?

I've put you forward for a Summer work placement with Pete Wallace and his company 'Butch Auntie'. You can work remotely, so there's no travel involved, but Pete would like to meet you on Tuesday 7th May @ 10am in the CGAA base room for an initial briefing.
